Say Goodbye to Survival Mode: Stop Trying to Do It All and Just Say No
Say Goodbye to Survival Mode
When I started to learn how to use coupons to save money one of the first sites I found was MoneySavingMom.com. I’ve been such a huge fan of Crystal’s site since that day back in June 2010 because she always has great money saving tips, posts weekly goals, recipes to try and she’s always honest when writing. Not to mention, I was introduced to Dave Ramsey and Swagbucks from her site! Yes, 3 years later, I still  check her site daily.

So you can imagine how  elated, and honored, I was when I was selected to be a part of the launch team for her new book, Say Goodbye to Survival Mode, available January 2014, preorders taken now.

This book is packed full of information on how to become efficient, organized, and intentional every day. The part of the book that has hit home with me right now, is Just Say No.

I know that when we say ‘Yes’ to one thing we have to say ‘NO’ to another. But I haven’t been living that way lately, and I can have workaholic tendencies-I know you’re not surprised. :) I’ve been saying “yes’ to working more, and consequently ‘no’ to my family.

I don’t like to say NO, to my family, my boss, my students, my blog or video ideas. I’m a Yes person, ‘YES, I can get that done for you’ ‘YES, I will answer that email’ and the list goes on. Then I read this in the book and it reminded me of something very important:

Don’t be afraid to say no. Women love to please others, and sometime we do so at our own expense.

I need to say no sometimes. I put this into practice last week, when I said NO to doing another 5 hours of work on the blog when I came home from a day of teaching. My daughters asked me to spend the night with them, and not work on the blog.

We had such a nice night out together shopping for their friends Christmas gifts. Of course they went through my stockpile first and took the extra nail polish colors and lip glosses. :) We were able to talk about ‘girl’  things that my husband doesn’t need to talk about.

They’re growing into such wonderful young ladies and I want to spend as much time as I can with them. I will continue to practice, I know my family will be happy. :)

Therefore, especially at this time of year, we need to Stop Trying to Do it All, and Just Say NO!

  1. Saying no is oh so hard to do, but definitely worth it in the long run.

Your daughters will forever remember the day you put them ahead of your blog and had a girls night with them!
